Who leads Beavers

A Beaver Colony is led by an adult Beaver leader who is assisted by adult volunteers with activities to make sure that everyone is safe. Some leaders are given nicknames after characters from nature, books or films, or by their real first name.

In each Colony, some Beavers are also part of a Lodge. A Lodge is a smaller group of Beavers led by a Lodge Leader or Junior Leader, young person performing peer leadership. A peer leader is a champion or guardian who does things like greeting new members to the Colony, taking the lead on tasks during camp, or being responsible for an activity or game. Everyone gets to be a peer leader and experience the role.

Beavers often come together at the opening and closing of meetings. During trips and some activities they also band together.
